Our role is ongoing: once a young person successfully re-enters school or enters employment or training, a mentor continues to track and monitor his or her progress. The purpose of this is twofold: firstly, it provides the young person with ongoing support; and secondly, it provides the school, employer, or training institution with support while the young person settles in.
Once a young person has completed our BridgeBACK programme, our goal is for him or her to have developed a career path or plan, and to have taken steps towards achieving that plan. While this will be different for every young person, it will involve either returning to school or becoming involved in meaningful training or work opportunities.
There are three ways that young people may enter our BridgeBACK Excluded Youth programme:
