Polyjam Classic.

Full-day Basketball Fundraiser - the first Saturday of every December
For the past 6 years, TYMS have held an annual one-day Basketball tournament every December, bringing together local teams who play to represent our Pacific nations.

It’s a fun day of social & competitive Basketball that we host every summer, filled with sausage sizzles, friendly competition, laughs and a DJ on the decks.
Every year the players are asked to bring along a toy and canned items, which gets distributed for children's end of year Christmas Hampers.

Congratulations to Team Tonga for winning the 2019 competition against All Nations, where other teams such as West-side Samoa, South-side Samoa, Central Samoa, Fiji, Niue, Cook Islands & Phillipines battled for the "Joshua Timaloa" Cup.

PolyJam 2020

Picture
Every year the purpose behind the Basketball competition is to fundraise for our young people and the families that we serve, as we head closer towards Christmas. However the 2020 PolyJam Classic was dedicated in honour and remembrance of our late Sai Bhai, as this will be the first Polyjam Summer Classic without him.

Open Adults League
The 'Open Adults' league will have 10 teams representing our different pacific nations. Please see the registration forms at the bottom on this page.

Player Costs & Contributions
  • Fundraiser fee of $25 per player (for those working) OR $20 (student-rate). This can be paid on the day
  • Non perishable foods e.g canned items or dry pasta per player
  • 1 x toy (for a boy or girl) per player

Under 14's League
The 'Under 14's' league will compete at 3 on 3 Basketball on the Birdwood Half court. There league is FREE as everything we do, is for our young people and their families. Please see the registration forms at the bottom on this page.
Information for Teams
Please make sure that you bring some key equipment and resources to make the day go well for your team. We are predicting it to be a hot day as usual, so the equipment recommended to bring:

  • A gazebo or tent for your team to sit and eat together
  • Water and drinks (non-alcoholic)
  • Packed lunches. We will have some food stalls and sausage sizzle going to having your own chilly bins of fruit, bars and sandwich to create "family atmosphere" for your tent
  • First Aid kit (we will have one at the event)
  • Flags of your nation and/or a Banner for your tent
Polyjam Uniforms will be provided however we kindly ask that these singlets are well looked after throughout the tournament and a complete set must be handed back.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
Smoke-Free & Alcohol-Free
The event is definitely a SMOKE-FREE and ALCOHOL-FREE event. We cannot stress that. If people are wanting to smoke, there will be designated smoking areas AWAY from the event. There will be an alcohol ban on players, coaches and supporters of the team. We have families, kids and potential sponsors present in which we do not want any incidents involving alcohol at the event.

Belongings
We will have TYMS staff and volunteers walking around the event and supporting. although the responsibility and security of your tent and gear are yours. As this event is held in a public place, we do ask you to please be wary of all your valuables and gears.

Children
We will try and maintain a good supervision of the people there as there is a playground and BMXtrack also in close proximity from the Basketball Court. However we do ask to please be mindful of all your children at all times throughout the event.

For the players
This is a fundraiser first, tournament second. We understand its a serious competition when we play but in the end, it all stays there on the court. Therefore the result is final and that judgement is left to the organizers discretion. When the game ends, the final two teams form a circle in the middle where captains speak comcluding with 3 cheers, and everyone hugs it out. No trash-talking, No fighting, No swearing, No anti-social behavior and finally No repercussions after the game. If these rules are not met, the team will be disqualified and the player/s banned from Polyjam. It's the Coaches and Managers job responsibility to lead their team the right way.

And lastly a massive thank you in advance for taking part in the PolyJam Classic 2020. The families and young people you are blessing will greatly appreciate your support this Christmas especially after the impact of Covid-19.

What Our Clients Are Saying

Our Location

“If I can just affirm all the great progress that our boys are showing at school in their confidence, physical health, and their learning. Much of which is attributable to the great work that their mentor is doing."

"TYMS helped me grow as a person. They helped me understand a few things that no one else was willing to help me understand, and help me see through things that no one else could."

"Watching my son grow in the time that his mentor has been involved with him, aw bro it's been amazing. Without his mentor, my son wouldn't even be this young man that people are now seeing before their eyes. He's not out getting himself into trouble, bullying others, or hurting girls. My son came home one day after his session with the mentor and he said, 'I'm so happy you got me help mum'".
