Whānau Ora is for families in the Glen Eden area who want support to build a better future in a way that works for them.
It’s a service that puts whanau at the centre. That means whanau decide what’s important, what goals they want to work towards, and what kind of support makes sense for them. Whether it’s help with health, housing, money, education, culture, or relationships, Whānau Ora is there to support the whole family, not just one person.
Whanau will be supported by a Whānau Ora Navigator. Navigators are trusted people in the community who will walk alongside the family. They’ll listen, help formulate a plan, connect to the right services, and work to build on the family's strengths.
Every family is different, so the support will look different too. It might include: • help to find a safe and stable home • support to get into work or study • parenting support or advice • help with mental wellbeing, stress, or anxiety • support to overcome addiction • reconnecting with your language, culture or identity • or simply having someone to guide you through a tough time
Whānau Ora is led by organisations who understand Pacific and Māori families and Communities, TYMS is proud to be one of these organisations. The support is flexible, respectful, and shaped around whanau values and priorities.
TYMS is now offering Whānau Ora - a free, whānau-led service for Glen Eden families who want support with things like help finding safe and stable housing, finances, parenting, mental health and more. You’ll be paired with a trusted Navigator who’ll walk alongside you and help create a plan that works for your whānau.
